چکیده

IT IS accepted generally that antibodies directed against red blood cell antigens in the Rh system result from isoimmunization either by transfusion or pregnancy and rarely can be considered “naturally-occurring.” Diamond et al. reported the first example of a naturally-occurring antibody within this system in 1942.3 They described an antibody, apparently anti-D, in the serum of a five-year-old Rh-negative boy who had no history of prior transfusion. Naturally-occurring anti-D is extremely rare,9 as there are only three reports of its occurrence in the literature.’, 3, 5 Naturally-occurring anti-E is somewhat more common. Race and Sanger,ll Dunsford.4 Jenkins,’ and Grove-Rasmussen and Levine,s have reported examples of sera containing anti-E in patients with no history of appropriate antigenic stimuli. Other described specificities of such antibodies in this system include two examples of anti-Cw 2. 8 and one of anti-Cx.10 This report recounts another example of a “naturally-occurring” Rhesus antibodythe hitherto unreported specificity of anti-C (anti-rh’) .

Design of a humanized anti vascular endothelial growth factor nanobody and evaluation of its in vitro function

Objective(s): Nanobodies, the single domain antigen binding fragments of heavy chain-only antibodies occurring naturally in camelid sera, are the smallest intact antigen binding entities. Their minimal size assists in reaching otherwise largely inaccessible regions of antigens. However, their camelid origin raises a possible concern of immunogenicity when used for human therapy. Humanization is...

Reovirus oncolysis: a brief insight on molecular mechanism and immunological aspect

Abstract :  Reovirus (respiratory enteric orphan virus), a naturally occurring benign human pathogen, has an inherent ability to target transformed and cancerous cells and cause their lysis, while leaving non-transformed cells relatively unaffected.  The efficiency of this innate oncolytic activity of reovirus correlates with expression of the ras oncogene.  Cells expressing ac...

Naturally occurring autologous anti-idiotypic antibodies. Participation in immune complex formation in selective IgA deficiency

50% of individuals of selective IgA deficiency have high serum titers of antibody to bovine proteins, and high levels of circulating immune complexes that contain bovine antigens. Because in animal studies, immunization with antigen-antibody complexes is a very effective means of producing anti-idiotypic antibodies, we sought such autoantibodies in two sera known to have large amounts of antica...

Preparation and In Vitro Evaluation of Sustained-Release Matrix Tablets of Flutamide Using Synthetic and Naturally Occurring Polymers

Frequent dosing of the potent anti-androgen, flutamide, is necessary to reach a therapeutic level for the treatment of prostatic carcinoma. Sustained delivery of the drug could reduce the adverse effects such as gastrointestinal disorders and improve patient compliance. In the present study sustained-release matrix tablets of flutamide were prepared by direct compression method using different ...
